Applications
Olefin Monomers (ethylene, propylene)
Buy and sell ethylene and propylene with product specifications, delivery points, delivery periods and credit terms defined before bidding. Quantities are in MMlb or whole railcars; prices are in cents/lb or a specified index adder.
Commercial value
Bring qualified demand or supply into one bidding process. See the quantities participants will commit at successive prices while keeping the product and delivery obligations explicit. Monthly purchases can run together with a separate price and award for each month.
Ethylene sales
Spot ethylene for a specified delivery month at a nominated hub. Customers choose the quantity they will buy at each posted price in cents/lb. The offering states minimum and maximum bids, quantity increments and any seller discretion to award additional volume.
Ethylene procurement
Ethylene for a specified month at the nominated hub or an agreed point on the buyer’s system. Suppliers state the quantity they will deliver as the posted purchase price declines. Alternative delivery points and designation deadlines are agreed under the purchase terms.
Monthly ethylene procurement strips
Separate purchases for several delivery months run at the same time. Suppliers can bid for one or more months, each with its own price, quantity and award. Offerings can use fixed prices, an adder to a specified monthly ethane reference, or a mix of fixed-price and indexed months.
Propylene sales
Polymer-grade propylene (PGP) for a defined delivery month, delivered to connected customers or an alternative point agreed before bidding. The offering can use a flat price in cents/lb or an adder to a specified refinery-grade propylene reference.
Minimum and maximum quantities, credit limits, payment deadlines and any letter-of-credit or advance-payment arrangements form part of the offer. A published minimum and optional additional volume define the seller’s award range.
Propylene railcar sales
PGP in seller-provided railcars, with a common base price in cents/lb and published delivery-zone adjustments. Buyers bid for whole cars they can receive and unload within the stated period. Receiving facilities, unloading requirements, residual-product credits and late-return charges are specified before bidding.
Propylene procurement
PGP for a defined delivery month at a nominated hub or another point agreed before bidding. Suppliers offer quantities in MMlb at declining prices in cents/lb. The offering defines quantity limits, participation requirements and allocation rules.
Monthly ethylene balancing
Level 3: Matching Markets can match participants’ ethylene surpluses and shortfalls at a common hub for current-month or one-month-forward delivery. Quantities are in MMlb and prices in cents/lb, with delivery, quantity and credit conditions defined before matching. The trade is in ethylene molecules, not storage-capacity rights.
